Tuesday, we had a CAT Scan to check the chemo's progress and no surprise to anyone, it is not working. Today, we met with him to discuss the results of the CAT. The tumor has actually grown since I started this new therapy. He wants to try a different combination therapy with more targeted chemo which will focus on zapping some of the specific characteristics of my tumor, he is deciding between 2 options. I will find out what he has decided on Monday and hopefully start the new drugs Monday morning. We are not too bummed, we had already been given the heads up as a result of how terrible I was feeling and the blood counts. I am happy to start something new that works and does its job. Hopefully, the one that works is the one that is covered by my insurance! :)

For now, I have an appetite and I am holding down a good amount of food. I know things are looking up and I will send this cancer crap a packing!

Kelly and Joel,

Axel and I keep reading the blog, and pestering Sara, to get updates on you guys. Some of the new targeted therapies are great, and they function in very different ways than conventional chemo. I sure am counting on the new one your doc picks for you to ease up on the side effects you guys have been dealing with.

I like reading the blog, but you should know that you don't OWE anyone the insight into your daily routine. Thanks for sharing, but remember, it is FOR YOU and should stay that way...

Love,
EG and the Minnesota gang

Thank you David Kelly. I am a friend of Kelly Lester and we appreciate all the prayers and happy thoughts from old friends and new ones! I will pray for your mother and your safe travels. Please let us know if you need any assistance with information on this terrible disease. If we don't know the answer, we will put you in touch with someone who does!

Keep up the prayers everyone! Kelly is in the hospital right now so she needs a few extra prayers and words of encouragement!

We love you Kelly and Joel!

Hi Kelly and Joel,

We, the Sloans and McCreas, are thinking of you both so very much....you are in our prayers every day. Do hope your new chemo regimen will be the 'right' one.

Val is in the hospital again this week with a serious blood infection, we think from the stents and/or the ports. Such a difficult struggle this disease presents.....seems like there is always a 'new' issue.

We will rejoice over a great lunch in Houston when both you and Val are 'on the road to recovery'.

Our fondest thoughts are with you.

Char Sloan (Val's aunt)
